What causes constipation while traveling? Patients often ask Good to Go co-founder Dr. Edwin Levine, MD, why they experience traveler's constipation. Here's the video answer and transcript below.
QUESTION: What are the main causes of traveler's constipation?
ANSWER: There are three 3 reasons people get constipated when they travel. 1. They don't drink enough water--before they leave or on the first few days of their trip. 2. The second is the significant change in schedule, and not using the restroom at the same time every day. 3. The last reason is a change in diet—if you're eating different foods, your bowels are going to be different, too.
